Transfer Station LID Retrofit

Client:
Government
Location:
Culver City, Los Angeles, California

Our Approach

Blue Ocean provided civil engineering design and coordination services for water quality retrofits to comply with Industrial General Permit and NPDES Permit requirements at the Culver City Transfer Station located along Ballona Creek.

Services included coordination with proposed diversion system, hydrology and hydraulics study, preparation of construction plans for rain garden features, biofiltration curb pop-outs, harvest and use cisterns, biofiltration planter boxes, drainage improvements, and access road grading and paving.

We also provided construction and post-construction support, as well as project management services to coordinate landscaping, survey, and educational outreach and signage from subconsultant firms.

Project Highlights

  • Grand opening attendance and public interaction in support of the project
  • Continued sampling and Industrial General Permit compliance support after the project was constructed
  • Variety of low impact development features incorporated in the street and along the narrow building frontage
