Flood Insurance Map Revision

Client:
Private, Consultants
Location:
Sun Valley, Los Angeles, California

Our Approach

Blue Ocean completed a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) for a new Waste Management Transfer Station and Material Recycling Facility located in a Special Flood Hazard Area Zone AE in a historical gravel mining pit and runoff detention area.

Blue Ocean worked efficiently to navigate the FEMA Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) and LOMR processes to keep construction and occupancy schedules on track. We completed hydrologic and hydraulic backup calculations for official revision of the Federal Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) to reflect the proposed project and adequate protection of life and property.

Project Highlights

  • This project included close coordination with the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering, FEMA, and the project design team.
  • Blue Ocean developed an operational process that allows the basin to function as both flood control and water quality Low Impact Development BMP.
